Your adult family member can only apply to join you in the UK if they have long-term care needs and they do not have adequate care in their home country. Long-term care must be provided by a parent, grandchild, brother, sister, son, or daughter who lives in the UK.

To qualify for an Adult Dependent Relative Visa, the applicant must demonstrate that they meet the following eligibility criteria:

• They are over 18 years old.
• They are a close family member (parent, grandparent, adult child, or sibling) of the sponsor.
• The sponsor must be a British citizen, settled in the UK, and hold protection status or, in some cases, pre-settled status. 
• They require long-term personal care due to age, illness or disability.
• Adequate care is unavailable or unaffordable in their country of residence.
• The sponsor in the UK can provide adequate maintenance, accommodation, and care without relying on public funds.

The majority of adult dependant applications are refused due to the hostile assessing of the application. However, the refusal can be challenged by way of an appeal. To do so, you must lodge an appeal at the first-tier Tribunal within 28 days from the date you receive the refusal.
